In today’s video Dani goes over the 4 ingredients in beer and explains how each of them contributes to the flavor of the resulting beer.

Beer has four ingredients: Malt, Hops, Yeast, and Water. Malt is responsible for any bready, toasty, chocolatey, or roasty flavors in beer. Hops provide bitterness, and can also give citrusy, floral, earthy, herbal, or even piney aromas and flavors to beer. Yeast produces things called esters and phenols, which provide complex fruity or spicy notes. Finally, water can influence the way beer tastes based on the minerals present in the water, but ultimately, water doesn’t contribute any “flavor”, or isn’t really talked about, anyway.

Check out the video for the full explanation of beer ingredients and how they make your beer taste the way it does! Cheers!
